Apple Shortcuts is the automation engine built into every iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It lets you create custom workflows that connect your apps, trigger actions automatically, and control everything with Siri voice commands.
By integrating Guthly with Apple Shortcuts, you can log habits with your voice, automate tracking based on time and location, and build personalized routines that fit seamlessly into your day — all without opening the app.
Whether it's a quick "Hey Siri, log my workout" or an automation that tracks your evening routine when you arrive home, this integration makes consistent tracking effortless.

How to Connect
Open Guthly Settings
Navigate to Settings > Integrations in the Guthly app on your iPhone or iPad.
Select Apple Shortcuts
Tap the Apple Shortcuts card to enable the integration. Guthly will register its actions with the Shortcuts app.
Open the Shortcuts App
Launch Apple's Shortcuts app. You'll find new Guthly actions available under "Apps" when creating or editing a shortcut.
Build Your First Shortcut
Create a new shortcut using Guthly actions like "Log Habit," "Start Workout," or "Get Daily Summary." Combine them with other app actions as you like.
Add Triggers (Optional)
Set up automations in the Shortcuts app to run your Guthly shortcuts automatically based on time, location, NFC taps, or other triggers.
Example Automations
"Hey Siri, log my morning routine"
Create a single Siri command that marks off multiple morning habits at once — meditation, journaling, stretching, and hydration — all logged in Guthly with one phrase.
Auto-log meditation when arriving home
Set a location-based automation so that when you arrive home in the evening, Guthly automatically starts a mindfulness timer. When you finish, the session is logged without lifting a finger.
Morning briefing shortcut
Build a shortcut that reads your current habit streaks, yesterday's workout summary, and today's goals through Siri. Run it while making coffee and start the day informed.
NFC gym check-in
Stick an NFC tag on your gym bag or locker. Tap your phone to it and Guthly automatically starts your workout session, ready to log exercises as you go.
Pro Tips
Stack multiple habits in one shortcut
Instead of logging habits one by one, create a single shortcut that marks off your entire routine. Use "Choose from Menu" to pick which ones you completed, then log them all at once.
Add shortcuts to your Lock Screen
On iOS 16 and later, you can add shortcut widgets directly to your Lock Screen. Put your most-used Guthly shortcuts there for zero-friction logging throughout the day.
Use Focus Mode triggers
Combine shortcuts with Focus Modes. When your "Workout" Focus activates, automatically start a Guthly workout session. When "Wind Down" turns on, log your evening routine.
Create conditional automations
Use the Shortcuts "If" action to build smart automations. For example: if it's a weekday, log your work commute walk; if it's the weekend, prompt you to choose a workout type.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an iPhone to use the Apple Shortcuts integration?
Yes. Apple Shortcuts is available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The Guthly integration works across all three platforms, though location and NFC triggers are only available on iPhone.
Can Siri log specific details like workout duration or meal calories?
Yes. You can build shortcuts that ask Siri for specific inputs — like how many minutes you meditated or what you ate — and pass those details to Guthly. You can also set default values for quick zero-input logging.
Do automations run when my phone is locked?
Time-based and location-based automations can run automatically in the background. Some automations may require a confirmation tap depending on your iOS settings, but you can disable the confirmation for most Guthly actions.
Will this drain my battery?
No. Shortcuts and automations are lightweight and run efficiently. Location-based triggers use the same geofencing system as Reminders, which has minimal battery impact. You won't notice a difference.
Can I share my Guthly shortcuts with friends?
Absolutely. Shortcuts can be shared as links or files. If you build a great morning routine shortcut, you can send it to anyone. They'll just need Guthly installed and the Shortcuts integration enabled to use it.
